Weeks of December 26th-January 6th

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you for sending a gift in; we had a wonderful Christmas celebration!
There will be no homework over break and no spelling test on the first week back. The new semester will begin when we return; report cards will be going home then as well.
Thanks for all you do; I pray that you and yours have a wonderfully blessed holiday! Remember the Reason for the season!

Week of December 12th-16th

What a beautiful Christmas program! I am proud of each of my students! I will be on vacation all next week so Mrs. Karen Jordan will be filling in for me.
We will have a spelling test from list 15 on Tuesday and Wednesday as well as a History test on Tuesday.
For our Christmas party, we drew names as a class so your child will need to purchase a $10 gift for the name they drew and bring it school by no later than Monday, December 19th.
Thank you!

10/24-28/2016

There will be no school on Monday, October 24!

NLCA will be holding a Zumbathon instructed by Shannon Hess as a fundraiser on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. It is $20.00 a person or $75.00 for families for 4 or more. Please spread the word.  All money goes into the NLCA PTF.

We have finished the first nine weeks of school.  The expectation of each student will be higher now that they are used to the routine. I would like to see each student more prepared for class each day by having everything they need at their desk for the day by the time the bell rings. Also, please encourage your child to wear deodorant to school; they sweat a lot in gym class and recess!

Tests:
Tuesday: trial spelling (list 10)
Wednesday: spelling

Thanks and have a wonderful 3-day weekend!

We will have a cumulative science test on Monday and a history test mid-week. We will have the trial spelling test on Tuesday and final test on Wednesday (list 9.)
We have started the Book-It program. I sent home a sheet in which your child can mark off how many minutes total they read per month. If he or she reads for 180 minutes, (broken up into days) I will give them a ticket for a free pizza at Pizza Hut.
Have a safe and happy weekend!

Parents, give your fifth grader a pat on the back...they all worked very hard this week! We learned a lot and I believe we had lots of fun! The class picture looked great as did each of your beautiful children! Be sure to ask your child about walking on raw eggs today! I would like to remind everyone that we will have our weekly spelling test on Wednesday with a trial test on Tuesday. We will be memorizing and reciting John 1:12 (some impressive self-motivators have already done so). If possible, please turn in $17 to purchase the planners this week if you haven't already done so. Please remember that the water bottles in class must be spill proof and we are not allowed to use cell phones or other media in the classroom at all. Lastly, I would like to say how impressed I am with the majority of the class for their efforts in and out of the classroom. Your hard work, kindness and helpfulness, is certainly not overlooked. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi, my name is Cassie Stull and I am the new fifth grade teacher at NLCA this year! I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity and cannot wait to meet my students! We are going to have a blast this year as we learn! I hope you have had a wonderful summer so far!
I grew up in Nicholas County and graduated from Richwood High School. I then went to West Virginia University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in biology. My husband, Luke, and I live in Mt. Lookout where we recently built our home and live with our son, Samuel, daughter, Sophia, dog, cat, and two fish!
My children will be starting pre-kindergarten and kindergarten this fall at New Life. My family is excited for this new season of our lives and look forward to what God has is store for us at NLCA. I am excited to learn and grow with you in the coming year! See you soon!

Thank You,
