Week of October 26-30

Chemistry: We will Review Chapters 4-5 on Tuesday and plan to take the quarter exam (test 3) on Wednesday. 

Earth and Space: We will review for test 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday then take the exam on Friday. 

Finance: We will take a closed-book exam on chapter 4 Tuesday. We will be working on chapter 5 the rest of the week. 

Order and Design: we will take quizzes 9 and 10 Tuesday as a review then prepare for the quarter exam (test 4) on Friday. 

Matter and Energy: We will finish chapter 4 on Tuesday, review for the quarter exam Wednesday and Thursday, and take the exam Friday. 

Mrs. Stull’s Field Trip Assignment (to be completed on Thursday, October 29^th)

Chemistry: On an index card, discuss the chemistry of the cave; what chemicals are necessary for the formation of stalactites and stalagmites? Discuss the timeline of formation within in Christian perspective; refute the million-year theory.

Earth and Space: Study for Exam 3! On an index card, discuss the geology of the cave, draw and label a column, stalagmite, stalactite, and more. Then, on the opposite side, discuss the necessary soil nutrients for proper growth of the pumpkins on the farm!

Finance: Tell me how much profit the pumpkin farm made yesterday. Be sure to calculate the entry fee ($10), the money made on all things purchased, the cost of giving every student a pumpkin, the cost of paying every employee to work, (tractor and mower drivers, ice cream worker, lemonade stand, gift shop, etc.) State how much they hoped to make yesterday when I told her 100 people were coming, then share how much they actually made when only half that many people showed up.

Order and Design: Study for test 3!  On an index card, draw and label the parts of a pumpkin (stem, vine, flower, leaf, seeds, etc.) On the other side, draw and label the parts of the cavern (column, stalagmites, stalactites, water, limestone rock, etc.)

Matter and Energy: Study for test 3! On an index card, discuss one physical and one chemical change within the cavern (something that changed the space inside the cave.) On the other side, discuss your energy while at the farm… what did you do to consume energy while there, and what did you do to receive energy while there?

Grandparent's Day is Friday, October 9. School will dismiss after the program. 

Chemistry: We will go over 4.3 on Monday, quiz 8 Tuesday, Test 2 Thursday. Quiz 7 due Monday. Be prepared to present your poster! For quiz 8, review table 4.2, know what a "synthesis" reaction is, know what the limiting reactant is, and understand figure 4.7.  practice problem #5 on page 80 due Tuesday.

Earth and Space: Test 2 Monday; we will be reading 3.1 and presenting posters the rest of the week. Due to grandparent's day practice, we will finish the exam on Tuesday. 

Finance: Chapter 3 quiz Tuesday, chapter exam Thursday. 

Order and Design: Test 2 Monday; begin chapter 3 and present posters.

Thanks for a great start to the school year! All of my students will be researching a National Park and presenting that information to your class. Please use your spare time to begin learning about the park you selected. Due dates will be given as we progress. (7th grade will select their park on 8/24.)

If anyone knows what the background photo is on my blog, write it on your homework for bonus!
