(this is everything on the exam quarter exam (chapters 1-5, minus what we discussed in class on Wednesday)

·         Pressure is measured by volume changes of a sealed container in an aneroid barometer

·         Pressure and n (moles) are directly related at constant volume and temperature

·         The volume of a gas is affected by temperature bc the kinetic energy of gas molecules is directly related to temperature

·         If two or more experimental groups are being compared, no control group is needed.

·         Higher molar mass = less kinetic energy (Section 5.3)

·         Chemical symbol for copper

·         Prototype

·         Standard Temperature and Pressure

·         Ideal gas (5.1)

·         Diffusion (5.3)

·         Formula for diphosphorus trisulfide, copper (1) oxide

·         A different number of protons = a different element (2.4)

·         Balance a chemical reaction using coefficients

·         Proper scientific notation (1.4)

·         Chromotography (2.2)

·         Correct nuclear symbol of Oxygen (2.4)

·         Definition of solids, liquids, gases

·         dimensional analysis problems (example yards to meters)

·         pascal

·         empirical formula of calcium phosphate

·         mole ratios (4.3)

·         significant digits (1.4)

·         use percent composition and molar mass to determine molecular formula

·         what is R in PV=nRT

·         decomposition (4.2)

·         gold foil experiment (2.3)

·         types of reactions (4.2)
