Week of September 25-29

Tests next week:
Tuesday - Language and trial spelling (list 5)
Wednesday - Science and spelling
Thursday - Reading vocab quiz

The kids made everyone laugh with their "hand-raising" video at Chapel Wednesday; thanks for coming out to support them! Thank you to the parents that came to the conference; if you were  unable to talk to me on Thursday feel free to contact me to schedule another time to meet.

Grandparent's Day is Friday! We will eat from 8:00-9:30 in the old gym and will move to the new gym for the presentation from 9:30-11:30. School will dismiss immediately afterward.

Please make sure your child is dressing in accordance with the dress code (you can find a copy in the student handbook under the "menus and forms" tab of the NLCA website).

We learned about latitude and longitude in geography class today. I told the kids about a really neat app my family loves to use and they were very interested. After finding the app, Geocaching, create a login and you can begin searching for treasures all over by using latitude and longitude! (We have found several around the lake and at all the nearby parks.)

Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Stull

Wednesday - spelling
Thursday - history and reading vocab quiz 2

Please make sure your child is turning in their assignments! I have a few students that are forgetting to do this on a regular basis! Also, don't forget to drill them with their multiplication tables (or use http://coolsciencelab.com/math_magician) to let them play multiplication games.)

I will be sending a permission slip home on Tuesday; please sign and return in order for your child to be able to join us for the Water Education Day at Carnifex Ferry the following week. Check out the facebook page, Project WET, to find out what we will be doing!

Week of August 28th-September 1st

Tests next week:
Tuesday - list 1 trial spelling
Wednesday - spelling list 1, language
Friday - math, science

The next bible verse our class will be memorizing is Ephesians 2:8-10.

School pictures for individuals and class photos will be on Wednesday, August 30th.

Please have your child wear school colors on Friday, September 1st, to support their favorite college team.

This class is struggling some with their multiplication tables. Please help reinforce them at home. There are several ways to do this; check out the following website: http://coolsciencelab.com/math_magician. If you do not have internet access, please drill them manually by having them write them or play games with you. (I have several suggestions if you need some!)

Our class will be going on our first field trip on September 12th to Carnifex Ferry! We will be learning about water education in many fun and exciting ways! They will need to bring their lunch with them that day.

We have chapel every Wednesday morning; feel free to join us!

Thank you for all you do! Have a wonderful weekend!

Week of August 21st-25th

Congratulations on making it through the first two days of school! We are off to a great start! Thank you for bringing in supplies. You are welcome to join us for Chapel on Wednesday mornings from around 8:15-9:00.

We will have our first bible test next Friday on Romans 6:23. We will have our trial spelling tests on Tuesdays and our final tests on Wednesdays each week. (There will not be a spelling test next week.)

Don't forget that we are letting out early Monday as a result of the solar eclipse! Check out the website we used to prepare our class for this event:  https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/
Your little scientist can even help collect data by downloading the app from observer.globe.gov and reporting air temperature readings!

Have a wonderful weekend!
